Tips for Team Leaders and Managers
We aim to increase self-awareness and offer tools for keeping calm under pressure. We know it can get overwhelming to add yet another ‘new thing’ into the mix of an already hectic day and night.
And, it’s just those new things that can help us build habits that can work to our advantage.
As a leader, here are a few suggestions to help your team integrate these tools into their day/night:
Check in’s
During team meetings or 1:1’s, ask how they are feeling? Energized or Depleted? Being or Doing? They don’t need to go to the CompassWise tool, just take time to assess where they are at the moment. You can also share where you are. If the answer is Depleted, ask what they need at the moment? This is a great way to begin a meeting with an individual reflection.
Do a quick exercise
Try the Sips audio to start a meeting, or the Rebalance audio. Starting a meeting from this place may help to settle the whole team. It only takes a few moments. Or ask for someone to come to the meeting prepared to lead the team in a quick exercise.
Make it fun
Encourage your team to use the process daily by creating a scoreboard, or setting up a Kickstand buddy system to encourage sharing of a favorite exercise they tried.
All of these actions will help create a positive culture of self-awareness and growing the habit of noticing what is happening then responding to that awareness with a productive action.
